If you want to know how to fix plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, etc.), this book is for you. It also is for you if you want to put plumbing into your new house, or do a rehab/add a bathroom, etc. My use is for both. I checked this book out of the library and realized I had to have my own copy (spills & what not on library books do not please librarians).
It has very clear, colored illustrations to show how pipes run, what tools you need, and what the different plumbing parts look like. The illustrations are excellent and easy to follow.
It is written in simple English. It has step by step illustrations for certain projects. This book won't tell you a lot about plumbing codes specifics (you need to check your local and state codes).
Most of all, for the newbie to plumbing, it starts out with an overview with good illustrations that show how water comes into a house, goes through a house, and leaves a house.
By looking through this book I learned that, as I hoped, I am perfectly capable of removing one sink faucet and installing a new one. And I knew nothing about it beforehand. (Haven't done it yet, but I now know what's involved.) I know what tools I'll need (not too many) -- and now I know the names of some tools I didn't used to know. I know what the basic parts of a faucet are and how they work together -- and it didn't take me more than 10 minutes of reading and thinking to grasp it all.
The diagrams are excellent -- extremely clear, complete, well labeled. Every so often there's an "Expert's Insight" -- a little helpful hint, or trick of the trade for making things easier. For each task the book clearly identifies how much time you should budget, what tools you'll need, and what skill level you'll need to start with. e.g., for fixing leaky toilet tanks and bowls, "No special skills, but be careful not to crack the toilet." How straightforward can you get? This is education that doesn't hurt.

It worked well to do exactly what I wanted. The carrying case is awesome for typical residential hobbyist use. (Typical of Lenox cases). The blades aren't that great. I would guess each one can withstand light use for a lifetime. If you had to cut 200+ holes I would use a different blade. Lenox blades are easy to replace though Lowes carries them. (at ~15.00 a pop)

This is a well made set of hole saws. I have used them for a variety of wooden doors, piping runs inside walls, and one metal door. In all cases the saws performed well. I am not sure how well they would hold up to extended use on metal, however for my moderate useage on wood, and limited use on metal they have seemed to hold their edge quite well. I originally bought a single lenox hole saw in a large diameter and had a cheap set of small diameter saws. I picked up this set from amazon on some special and will never use the cheap ones again, even for small diameter holes. I would have saved myself significant time and furstration if I had just purchased the "good" set at the regular price rather than trying to save a few dollars by buying cheaper versions of the small diameter saws.

I will not recomend its buying. It has 2.73 pages per chapter as media, each chapter has at least one page with questions, this is, you only have about 1.73 pages per chapter. If you see each chapet title, you can not teach it in less than 2 pages, you need seach information in other books to finish the item in chapter.
It is not going to be your best cost effective invest.

This is an excellent workbook with questions at the end of each chapter. Imagine my surprise when the book has no answers to the questions so you can check your work! I then search on line, call the publisher and am told that they don't release the answers to anyone who isn't teaching the course. I am helping a young gentleman study for his master plumbing exam, and am a University of Vermont Asst Prof, but unfortunatly that doesn't count. Very Frustrating!

The set is very complete and is very reasonably priced at Amazon compared to buying individual hole saws.
